Who are we?

We are full-size, ambitious and well functioning symphony orchestra, that has been around for 65 years. We play 5 to 8 concerts a year around Denmark, but also abroad.

We play the great classical symphonic repertoire from romantic period , to contemporary music and Viennese classics. We also play music in collaboration with choirs, for example, we play Brahms Requiem, Scheherazade (Rimsky-Korsakov), Sibelius ‘Violin Concerto, Berlioz’ Symphony Phantastique – and lots of other great music.

Many of Denmark’s best professional musicians, including soloists and conductors have had the first orchestral experience in Amatørsymfonikerne.

Would you like to join Amatørsymfonikerne?

Contact us at the orchestra’s email address (amatorsymfonikerne@gmail.com) to learn about your options; the brass section is usually fully occupied, but there is almost always room for new, talented musicians in the string section.

It’s also possible to play for a trial period. Each section has a group leader who assess whether you can be admitted in the orchestra and helps to guide you.

The orchestra is funded primarily by membership dues and to some extent on funds and subsidies.
